Hope After Loss

Bereavement Support Services for Family and Friends

“Death ends a life, but it does not end a relationship.”

Bereavement

The period after a loss during which grief is experienced and mourning occurs; the state of sadness or loneliness.

Grief is…

the collection of your internal thoughts and feelings when someone you love dies. It is the natural and normal reaction to death or loss of any type. Grief hurts because of the loss underlying it.

Mourning is…

when you take the grief you have on the in- side and express it outwardly. Talking about your grief with someone, attending a grief support group, or expressing those inward thoughts or feelings through music or art are just a few examples of mourning.
